Welcome to the fascinating world of the miniature inspired by Bartolomeo Bertolini, a Napoleonic dragon of extraordinary courage and skill. This stunning artwork comes to life in honor of one of the most illustrious military heroes of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Bartolomeo Bertolini, born in Trento in 1766, was a leading figure during the Napoleonic era. His deeds and his military service profoundly marked the Europe of that time. Bartolomeo embarked on an epic journey, facing numerous battles and wounds, proving his courage and his dedication to the cause.

Bartholomew's journey began in 1791, when he left his hometown to join the leaders of the Paris government, committed to maintaining public order. During his service, he suffered three wounds which testify to his commitment and tenacity.

Over the next few years, Bartholomew served in the 19th Dragoon Regiment, fighting under the Army of Anjou and later the Army of the Rhine. He distinguished himself for his bravery at the Battle of the Vendée in 1797-1798 and subsequently volunteered for Egypt in May 1798. During his service, he suffered a wound again in 1799.

His journey took him to the United States in 1801-1803 as a volunteer for the American expedition, facing a naval battle against the British and sustaining four wounds. Back in Europe, Bartolomeo took part in the battle of Austerlitz in 1805 and in the Prussian campaign in 1806, constantly proving his valor and ability.

In 1807, Bartholomew left the 19th Dragoons to join the Horse Artillery of the Royal Guard, distinguishing himself once again at the Battle of Wagram in 1809. His engagement took him to Spain in 1810-1811 and later to the Russian campaign in 1812 .

During the Battle of Borodino, Bartholomew was taken prisoner but escaped after three weeks, sustaining three wounds in the process. His extraordinary escape attracted the attention of Napoleon himself, who wanted to meet Bartolomeo to learn the details of his extraordinary deeds. In 1815, Bartolomeo took part in the legendary battle of Waterloo in Pajol's cavalry division, thus ending his career soldier with one last display of valor and bravery. His remains are kept today in the monumental cemetery of Trieste.
